Junior Customer/Technical Support Representative

This is a FULL-TIME position

As a specialist in Technical/Support Service, your primary tasks will involve managing the day-to-day operations required to maintain 100% hotspot uptime and ensuring customer satisfaction. This can include:

  • overseeing BOLDstreet's public network and monitoring systems
  • contacting hotspot location owners by phone and troubleshooting hotspot problems
  • performing hardware & software updates and configuration changes
  • managing the dispatch of technicians to new locations or those requiring repair
  • responding to inquiries from BOLDstreet's customers and technical partners
  • documenting procedures
  • generating reports

Though the position is technical in nature, you can nonetheless expect to be asked for your contribution to just about any task or project related to operations of an entrepreneurial company.

The following are desirable qualifications related to this position:

Required:

  • excellent communication (English) and customer management skills
  • analytical and troubleshooting skills (logic & common sense!)
  • experience with Windows operating systems and applications
  • ability to learn new things quickly
  • an easygoing nature and positive attitude

Preferred:

  • French language skills (verbal)
  • experience with networking and/or wireless (Wi-Fi) networks
  • experience with Linux, Linux-based tools and databases
  • troubleshooting and/or software testing experience
  • knowledge of SNMP

Assets:

  • experience with monitoring software, such as Sitescope, What's Up, ZenOSS
  • programming experience: scripting, .NET languages, SQL, HTML, PHP, Perl
  • data analysis skills

Be ready and quick to learn. We're searching for a smart, aggressive, independent software developer packing tons of common sense and motivation. Here's what you need to be considered:

  • Knowledge of object-oriented programming concepts and best practices
    • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in ASP.NET and C# in a Visual Studio development environment
  • Demonstrated experience in a relational database (preferably SQL Server or MySql)

Network Administrator

This is a FULL-TIME position

As a Network Administrator, your primary tasks will involve managing the day-to-day operations required to maintain 100% hotspot uptime and ensuring a stable and reliable server environment, both in our office and at our data centres. This can include:

  • overseeing BOLDstreet's Canada-wide public network servers and monitoring systems
  • responding to and resolving identified outages on core network and LAN systems
  • building and maintaining new systems that serve the wireless network or make our operations more efficient
  • working with partners to integrate systems
  • performing hardware & software updates and configuration changes
  • researching / testing new wireless technologies and equipment
  • enhancing security and features of the BOLDstreet office network
  • documenting procedures

Our network operates 24/7/365; therefore, carrying an after-hours pager is part of this role. Here are the specific skills you'll need:

  • experience with Ethernet-based networking and/or wireless (Wi-Fi) networks
  • experience with Windows networks
  • experience with Linux, Linux-based tools such as MySQL, RT
  • troubleshooting and/or software testing experience
  • knowledge of SNMP
  • analytical and troubleshooting skills (logic & common sense!)
  • ability to learn new things quickly
  • an easygoing nature and positive attitude

Preference may go to applicants with:

  • experience using FreeRADIUS
  • experience setting up domain controllers, MS Exchange, etc.
  • experience with monitoring software, such as Nagios, Mercury Sitescope & IPSWITCH What's Up
  • programming knowledge: scripting, .NET languages, SQL, HTML
